The North Pacific Marine Science Organization (PICES), an intergovernmental scientific organization, was established in 1992 to promote and coordinate marine research in the northern North Pacific and adjacent seas. Its present members are Canada, Japan, People's Republic of China, Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the United States of America.
Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC) promotes and supports policies and actions to conserve, develop, and manage our fishery resources in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska.
Aquatic Bioinvasions Research and Policy Institute at Portland State University The Aquatic Bioinvasion Research and Policy Institute (ABRPI), is a joint initiative between Portland State University (PSU) and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC). Its primary goal is to advance an array of collaborative and coordinated research, education and outreach activities that focus on the biological aspects of invasions in aquatic (marine and freshwater) ecosystems.
National Sea Grant College Program is a nationwide network (administered through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration [NOAA]), of 30 university-based programs that work with coastal communities. Environmental stewardship, long-term economic development and responsible use of America’s coastal, ocean and Great Lakes resources are at the heart of Sea Grant’s mission. The National Sea Grant College Program engages this network of the nation’s top universities in conducting scientific research, education, training, and extension projects designed to foster science-based decisions about the use and conservation of our aquatic resources.

International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) ICES is the oldest intergovernmental organisation in the world concerned with marine and fisheries science. ICES is the organisation that coordinates and promotes marine research in the North Atlantic. This includes adjacent seas such as the Baltic Sea and North Sea. |
