Aquatic Vegetation

The UF/IFAS Center for Aquatic and Invasive Plants is a multi-disciplinary research, teaching and extension unit devoted to the study and management of freshwater aquatic plants and invasive plants, aquatic and terrestrial. Personnel from about a dozen university departments contribute to its programs and projects. The Center director is Dr. Randall Stocker.

The Western Regional Panel for Aquatic Nuisance Species

The Western Regional Panel on Aquatic Nuisance Species was formed in 1997 to help limit the introduction, spread and impacts of aquatic nuisance species into the Western Region of North America. This panel of public and private entities was formed by a provision in the National Invasive Species Act of 1996 (P.L. 101-636), the amendment to the 1990 Act.
Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission

Authorized by Congress in 1947, the Pacific States Marine Fisheries Commission (PSMFC) is one of three interstate commissions dedicated to resolving fishery issues. Representing California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska, the PSMFC does not have regulatory or management authority; rather it serves as a forum for discussion, works for coastwide consensus to state and federal authorities. PSMFC addresses issues that fall outside state or regional management council jurisdiction.

Oregon State Marine Board

The Oregon State Marine Board was created in 1959 by the Oregon Legislature in response to the growing popularity of recreational boating and the federal Boating Safety Act of 1958. The governing board consists of five members, appointed by the governor and confirmed by the senate The Board sets state boating policy and has the authority to enact rules for boat operation. The agency itself is a small, independent department, consisting of a director and 38 staff who work hand in hand with the Board to provide boaters with safety, education, marine law enforcement, boating facilities and titling and registration services.
